Writing a Restaurant Review Essay
Writing a Restaurant Review EssayA restaurant review essay is not the same for all employees. And, if you want to write a review, it's important that you know what it is you should be writing about. One of the first things you need to do is choose a restaurant review that you like. You can either check out restaurants that are in your area or go online and look at those reviewed online. Don't be afraid to ask people what they think about the restaurants in your area. Or, if you have to look, check out online reviews. The most important thing you should do when choosing a restaurant review is to read and thoroughly understand everything that the writer has written. Make sure that you are sure about what it is you're writing about before you post the review. Read as much as you can about the restaurant.Try to not only read, but also try to learn as much as you can about the food and service that the person has provided for you. If you've eaten at a place and enjoyed the food, then make s ure you give them five stars. If you haven't had any problems with the service and food, then give them four stars.A restaurant with high marks, may not always have five star services. Some restaurants might be hard to get in, and some may have some problems. You don't want to put a restaurant that you have never been to, or never will be in, on your list. After reading the review, read through the restaurant's website. Try to find the websites of places that you are interested in going to. You might also want to take a little time to take a look at their hotel rating.Look atwhat they have on their menu items. When looking at their menu items, you might find out that the name of the item is something that you're familiar with. Be sure to check these things out. When you write a restaurant review, remember that it is your opinion. If you write a bad review, it doesn't mean that it is everyone's opinion. As long as you know what you're reviewing, and you understand what it is you're rev iewing, then you will write a good review.

The Quiet American Essays - The Quiet American,
The Quiet American Graham Greene's The Quiet American is a story about love. The main focus of this love is from Pyle and Fowler to Phuong. Through the novel Fowler and Pyle battle for this women's love, but the reality is that Phuong's love is not obtainable. The two men even speak of her in the third person, which reflects their idea of her as an object. Phuong sells herself to the highest bidder and is just looking for the best situation for herself. Phuong's whoring personality is seen through her relationships with three characters during the course of the novel. In Phuong's relationship with Fowler she is treated like a prostitute. Fowler's relationship with Phuong is built on sex. ? ?I don't care that for her interests. I only want her body. I want her in bed with me. I'd rather ruin her and sleep with her than, than . . . look after her damned interests,' ? (p 59). While he does later express an interest to divorce his wife and marry Phuong this interest only arose out of the possibility of losing her in bed. Fowler doesn't want a deep relationship, he just wants security and to feel comfortable. This is seen in his conversation with Pyle in the tower. ? ?I just don't want to be alone in my last decade, that's all,' ? (p 104). Fowler would rather be with a woman that he didn't love than have to be alone. Phuong provides an easy woman to obtain with little emotional involvement. Fowler just flat out uses Phuong as one would a prostitute. He takes sex from her and a sense of security. All this is in exchange for sustaining her lifestyle. Fowler's and Phuong's needs compliment each others, but Pyle provides a more enterprising opportunity for Phuong. In her relationship with Pyle she shows how willing she is to sell herself. She goes behind Fowler, who is the man she is with, to pursue possibilities with Pyle. While never directly said it can be inferred from the passage where Pyle recognizes Phuong's footsteps and the passage where the two look as if they have just parted from kiss. It is not possible for her to have true emotions for Fowler and be out with Pyle behind Fowler's back. She pursues Pyle for his money and her desire to see the American ?skyscrapers?, not for the love that Pyle hopes to receive. Phuong used Pyle and never had any true feelings for him. Fowler realizes this the night that Pyle is murdered and he is taking opium hits with Phuong. He sees her lack of pain from the loss of Pyle and questions if he was ? ?the only one who really cared for Pyle?' ? (p 22). The whole time Pyle was pursuing a girl who had no feelings for him. When his material possessions were no longer obtainable Pyle was cleaned from Phuon g's mind. In this relationship Phuong's tendency towards selling herself is most easily seen, but it is her sister that allows for an outside view on her prostitution. Phuong's sister can be seen as a pimp in her dealings with Phuong. In Miss Hei's first meeting with Pyle the only thing she is interested in is how much money and authority he has in the United States. Fowler notices this and comments ? ?It sounds as though you were examining Mr. Pyle's marriageability,' ? (p 42). This was exactly what Miss Hei was doing. Miss Hei sees Pyle as a more beneficial option than Fowler and attempts to set up a meeting without his presence. ? ?Then you must come and have dinner with me and my sister when Monsieur Fowler is gone,' ? (p 43). Miss Hei's interest in her sister's affairs has nothing to do with Phuong's happiness. She is only looking for the man with more money. Miss Hei sells her sisters body for money, which would in turn make Miss Hei a pimp and Phuong a prostitute. While Phuong can be deemed a prostitute, it does not have to be seen in a negative light. Her selling of herself comes from necessity and culture. ? ?It [love] isn't in their nature. You will find that

Candide, The Divine Comedy, Tartuffe, Othello essays
Candide, The Divine Comedy, Tartuffe, Othello essays Voltaires Candide can be easily considered one of the most potent satires of all times, as it is directed not to a particular aspect of the world but to the world as a whole and to the entire human race. What Voltaire mocks is not so much the state in which the world and humanity are in, but the inveterate optimism that characterized the Age of Reason. The values and creeds of the Enlightenment philosophers are demolished one by one in Voltaires work: the famous statement maintained by Leibniz and Rousseau that our world is the best of all possible worlds, the belief that the universe is in a state of unshakable harmony that only gives the impression of chaos, the general optimism that regarded even the dreariest events in the world as good, the faith in the human reason and the free will of man and so on. To remonstrate against what he felt was just hypocritical optimism, Voltaire makes the eponymous character of his work, Candide (who is, not by accident and as his name indicates, incredibly naive and simple) experience, through his journeys and adventures, the entire range of human sufferance: wars, natural disasters, maladies, slavery, religious persecution, rape and so on. In his way, Candide experiences all there is to experience and meets with all the evil in the world. His companions represent three different philosophical attitudes that influence Candides evolution. His gullible nature disposes him to believe the more comfortable theory, which is that of his master Pangloss. Pangloss is thus the prototype of the Enlightenment thinker, the professed optimist who believes in the absolute perfection of the world. Despite of the disasters he meets with and despite of the evil nature of the men he encounters, Pangloss remains a stubborn optimist, an advocate of the perfect harmony of the universe: Master Pangloss taught the metaphysico-theologo-cosmolo-nigology. He could prove to admiration that ...

Gender Study on Working and Stay-at-home Mothers Research Paper
Gender Study on Working and Stay-at-home Mothers - Research Paper Example In addition, it portrays the effects of gender in the society. Further, it denotes the perception of children towards the differences existing between their parents. Working mothers This refers to mothers who associate themselves with various income generating activities. They have lesser dependence on either their spouses or their parents. They involve both the married working mothers and single working mothers. They dedicate much of their time to work living only few hours to be with their families. Some ambiguous questions emerge from some individuals as to why, when, and what their intention is behind them (mothers) working (Lippa 2005). One of the main reasons behind mothers working for pay is to be independent. Another reason may be their (working mothersââ¬â¢) desire to live a live where they have total control of their finances. In addition, the work of mothers does not end up at work. More than half of the total number of working moms are those with families. Therefore, it is their (moms) obligation to hurry from work to home to provide for their families. Further, they have some customary duties to perform at their homes. For instance, they must get home earlier before their husbands so that they make several preparations concerning their meals. They also have to know the progress of their children. On the side of single working mothers, they find themselves having a full responsibility at home. They must strive to make ends meet, as they also have to avail the commodities the children require. Some children demand their mothers to provide for their necessities, which may be costly. Therefore, there is a need for single mothers to work harder to earn enough for their expenditure. They should ensure there is a surplus in their accounts. This means that they should make better calculations concerning their income and total expenses. Further, they need to make several adjustments on the total expenses. Through this, they will be able to manage their family requirements, as they eliminate the tertiary demands. In addition, single-working mothers have an extra task of time management. They search for ways of creating more time to deal with personal issues. Bearing in mind that they are the familiesââ¬â¢ sole breadwinner, they ensure they work towards the success of their business operations. They also make a good choice when it comes to friendship. They choose friends who are hard working and those who motivate other people not to despair in their work. The success of single mothers is a great joy to their families. They also bring to light less efforts for handling a family. This is a great encouragement to the single mothers not at work. Thereafter, they have an appraising hand from the entire society. Stay-at-home mothers A Housewife is another name referring to a stay-at-home mother. Most of their work is within the homestead. They do not get any remuneration for the tasks they undertake. Their main work is to ensure that they raise their kids and control their families. Stay-at-home mothers perform many tasks each day. They act as their childrenââ¬â¢s instructors, first aiders, doctors, and nannies. Some mothers are also the chefs of their homes and their childrenââ¬â¢s playmate. Further, they have a total control on the finances they use everyday . If they would require any pay, they may earn more than those working outside the homestead may earn. This is in respect to the different tasks they perform. They decide to be housewives because of their husbandsââ¬â¢ potential to provide for the families. Difference between working mothers and stay-at-home mothe

Affects of Westernization on Youth and Culture Essay Example for Free
Affects of Westernization on Youth and Culture Essay Youth are the back bone to a nation. The young generation occupies a special place in a society. They can change the future of the society with their spirited behavior. In a broader sense, the future of any society depends on the youth. The youth are ready to adapt changes because they are young, in search of truth and they are open to different ideas. Young people have better concentrating span contrary to old ones and that is how changes are brought in a society. All societies pay special attention to the youth. The youth acts as the motivating force of revolution. No revolution can be successful without the efforts of youth in a course of action. Their youthful energy enables them to perform great in every field and enables them to be innovative and skillful. Culture is the complete range of learned human behavior patterns. It includes a set of Customs, beliefs, and traditions. Culture is also shaped by Religion, language, festivals, dress, arts and craft. Culture is passed down from generation to generation. Youth of a society preserves its culture. All Cultures are naturally prone to change and, at the same time, to resist change. There are three general sources of influence that are responsible for both change and resistance to it: Forces at work within a society, Contact between societies and Changes in the natural environment. Within a society, processes leading to change include invention and culture loss. Inventions may be either technological or ideological. Technological inventions include new tools, energy sources, and transportation methods. Culture loss is an unavoidable result of old cultural patterns being replaced by new ones. For example, not many Pakistanis today know how to care for a horse. A century ago, this was common knowledge among many people because buggies and horse-riding were the only means of transportation. Since then, vehicles with internal combustion engines have replaced horses and horse care knowledge lost its importance. As a result, children are rarely taught these skills. Instead, they are trained in the use of the new technologies of automobiles, televisions, cellular phones, computers, and iPods. The processes leading to change that occur as a result of contact between societies are diffusion, acculturation and transculturation. Diffusion is the movement of things and ideas from one culture to another. When diffusion occurs, the form of a trait may move from one society to another but not its original cultural meaning. Acculturation is what happens to an entire culture when unfamiliar traits diffuse in on a large scale and significantly replace traditional cultural patterns. Transculturation is what happens to an individual when he or she moves to another society and adopts its culture. The word westernization is defined as ââ¬Å"The social process of becoming familiar with or converting to the customs and practices of Western civilizationâ⬠. The youth of Pakistan is talented and dedicated. Unfortunately, the youth today is involved in activities which are neither useful to them nor the nation. All that keeps them busy during the day are games, TV shows, movies and socializing with their peers which these days, is commonly called ââ¬Å"hanging outâ⬠. At night, theyââ¬â¢re busy chatting on the internet, listening to music, attending late night parties and some are even involved in illegal activities like smoking and drinking. They have no vision and instead of improving themselves or doing something productive, they choose to waste their time. All this is because of westernization of youth in Pakistan. Over the past decade, the youth of Pakistan has been adversely affected by western culture. A significant change has been observed in the culture of Pakistan. Many regional rituals have either been forgotten or replaced by western rituals; young people prefer western attire over national dress, fast food is preferred over regional food, family values are not practiced the way they used to, dating has become very common and violent behavior has become a trend among youngsters. In such a situation, culture cannot be passed on in its original form; it would rather be modified or to be more specific, westernized.
